The club has scheduled a private MSF Experienced Rider Course at Hillsborough Community College on October 6th. The course will be taught by Doug and Becky of Radmoto. A group of riders will depart Eurocycles immediately after the Club meeting for HCC. A second class will be held at HCC on October 20th. There is a maximum of 12 openings per class. If you would like to attend, please reply via president.bmw.rotb@gmail.com at your earliest convenience ( unless you already have sent an email to me). A deposit will be required and payment in full prior to the day of the course. We have more than 12 riders interested already. I am in the process of securing a second training day. The course cost is $ 75.00. This is a valuable asset to have in your arsenal, even if you took the course before. Please send any requests to our VP Mike Neal. mkneal211@gmail.com I will be in Nova Scotia until October. I hope to be back in time for the Oct 20 class. Ride Safe and enjoy.

As of today there are two openings for the 10/7 session and three for the 10/20 session. Send your checks to me following Harold's directions (make you check out to Hillsboro Community College). There are several members that have not paid so the first to get me their check with the date of their choice gets one of the training slots. Your $75 check confirms your reservation.

Update:
As of today both classes are full and will be confirmed once I get the three checks that are in the mail. For those of you that are signed up, the following is some additional detail:
We will meet at the Tampa Bay BMW dealer for the normal free pancake breakfast (8-9AM), have a short club meeting at 9AM and leave as a group for the training location around 9:30 AM. If you want to meet us at the trainng site, the location is:
HCC Police/Fire/Motorcycle Training Range 5610 E. Columbus Drive Tampa, FL
This is the training site east of HW 41 SE of exit 3 off I-4
Estimated schedule: Based on the above, the training will start at 10 AM and be completed around 4 PM. The typical required gear and bike condition still applies like any other advance MC training classes.

This from Dennis and Vicki Anderson who will not be able to make it back to Florida by October 6th:
Please post that there is one opening for the Experienced Rider class on October 6th because Dennis and I can't make it down in time to take the class that day and only one of us has found someone to switch places in us to attend the later class. We would love to have someone sign up who hasn't already registered for one of the classes or failing that, to switch with one of us for the October 20 class and to please get back to us if they can help us out asap. Call us at (989)430-0181 or (989)430-0242.[/i][/size]

The first Saturday training session went well and those who attended all said they learned something new. I saw a number of riders improve during the day. Even the big K1600 bikes were moving along the curves and turns well. Riding through the cones using one hand was something I've never done and that was my greatest challenge. We almost got all of our field training done before the rain and lightning started around 2 PM. The facilities are excellent for training with a covered area for in-field instruction, perfect pavement and an air conditioned training room for more detailed in-class training. Both Doug and Becky are excellent riders and were very encouraging during the rider critiques. Lunch was as close as across the road or a short ride down the road. It did get warm around noon so thankfully there was cold water available. Training Area: Classrooms and a few of the bikes: For those of you attending the 20th make sure you get the right address. It is listed above on this forum site. The training does not take place at the HCC Campus in Brandon.

I recently completed the MSF Experienced Rider Course. I paid $75 and spent five hours, most of it on a hot parking lot where my motorcycle reached a temp of over 200 degrees. I feel the exercises and education has made me a better and safer rider. I am glad I took the course. I am disappointed that Progressive is only giving me a premium discount of $4.15 on a $450 policy. I recently took a $20 5-hour classroom course to improve my automotive skills. Upon completion Geico gave me a $60 per year premium discount, good for three years. That is a total of $180 for a classroom-only course with a bunch of "blue hairs" who probably should not even be driving! I have written the CEO of Progressive asking "Can't you do better than this?".

Progressive gave me a $15.20 refund for mine, but it was my first MSF course ever, I got grandfathered in from when I got my motorcycle endorsement when I was 16 here in Florida. And don't forget the 15% discount this month at Cycle Gear on your first purchase when showing your card from the class. Great class by the way. Thanks Harold, Mike and RadMoto!

Great riding experience today, practiced skills that were new ans some that were old. I would encourage everyone to attend one of these classes and pick up a new set of tools for your skill's tool box.

Oct 20 MSF BRC2
Doug and Becky were absolutely the best. Lots of fun and laughter along with a good solid day of training. Both the roadwork and the class room were excellent.
Joan received her new title as " peg scraper", being the first person to scrape a peg in a turn. She did great on that Victory.
Dennis and Vicki did great on the Bergs. All of the rest of us just had a good time. Lots of RTs there today. Doug and Becky will most likely be doing some more seminars for our club this year. Stay tuned.

Awesome class. It was good to review the basics and also get the feel,of the ABS with those emergency stops. The final exercise was also a lot of fun and the grin could be seen on everyone's visor carving the corners and "s" turns. Hats off to Doug and Becky, very informative and professionally orchestrated. They're going to make us look good ! Thanks BMWROTB for making this happen,
Anthony (Devildog69)
